Why Guidelines Matter
Ping is built on trust. When you share stories or moments, you're often including information about other people. These guidelines help ensure everyone feels respected.
Sharing About Others
Do
- Share experiences you both participated in and would both enjoy remembering
- Use general descriptions when specific details aren't necessary
- Consider how the other person would feel seeing this shared
- Ask permission for sensitive or personal moments
Don't
- Share private conversations without consent
- Include embarrassing or unflattering details about others
- Share information others told you in confidence
- Post content that could harm someone's reputation or relationships
Privacy Controls
Ping gives you granular control over what you share:
- Audience selection: Choose "Just me," specific people, or subscribers
- Content toggles: Hide notes, images, or venue names per item
- Place privacy: Show neighborhoods instead of exact locations
- Name controls: Use first names only or anonymize entirely
What's Not Allowed
- • Harassment, bullying, or threats
- • Content that stalks or intimidates others
- • Sexually explicit content
- • Hate speech or discrimination
- • Content that violates others' privacy rights
- • Impersonation of others
- • Illegal content or activities
- • Spam or commercial solicitation
Subscriptions & Following
When someone subscribes to your stories:
- They only see what you explicitly publish to subscribers
- They can't see your contacts, notes, or private data
- You can remove subscribers at any time
- Subscribers can mute, unsubscribe, or block you
Reporting Issues
If you see content that violates these guidelines or makes you uncomfortable:
- Use the report function on any shared content
- Block users who make you uncomfortable
- Contact us at [email protected]
Enforcement
We take violations seriously. Depending on severity, we may:
- Remove the offending content
- Warn the user
- Temporarily suspend sharing privileges
- Permanently suspend the account
A Note on Intent
Ping is designed for people who want to be thoughtful about their relationships. These guidelines aren't about policing every word — they're about creating a space where people feel safe sharing meaningful moments.
If you're using Ping with good intentions and respect for others, you're probably doing fine. When in doubt, err on the side of privacy and kindness.
